Falmouth-based “Cluster” ship RFA Cardigan Bay has being put through her paces whilst on deployment in the Gulf region. During a mine-hunting exercise HMS Chiddingfold found a live depth charge.
The ship’s clearance divers were dispatched to dispose of the explosive during the incident in the Gulf.
The Bahrain-based minehunters HM ships Chiddingfold, Atherstone and Shoreham, supported by Cardigan Bay, joined US mine countermeasures ships in a joint exercise.
