Up to 200 people in Cornwall have had their cruises cancelled after Portuscale Cruises withdrew its cruise ship Funchal from the UK, without warning, for the 2015 season.
Roger Hawke, managing partner of Newell’s Travel Cornwall's largest independent travel agents said: “We have about 200 passengers who have booked on the various cruises and we are now seeking alternatives for them on various Fred Olsen and Cruise & Maritime cruises, in the hope that they can take an alternative and still enjoy a cruise.”
This is also a hit for the Port of Falmouth in terms of lost revenue as Funchal was making four calls here this summer.
Now Falmouth will only have 22 cruise ships calling during the season.
