If you have a cool £17 million at your disposal with tens of millions in the bank to crew and maintain her, the elegant motor yacht Dona Amelia currently laid up off Tolverne is on the market.

In 2011 the 1929 built Dona Amelia underwent a four month long refit at the Pendennis Shipyard complex.

Accommodation is for 13 guests in seven cabins consisting of a master suite, two VIP suites, two twins, a double and a single cabin, all with en suite bathroom facilities.

Overall, her interior exudes a timeless style evocative of the Art Deco era, from her bespoke furniture to her traditional fittings.

This gentleman’s motor yacht still has many of her original parts, including her Krupp 750hp MAK engines and had an extensive refit at Pendennis Plus in 2011.

She has a range of 8,000 nautical miles at 11 knots and her twin 750hp Krupp diesel engines offer a top speed of 13 knots.

Millionaire yeast producer Max C Fleischmann had the iconic yacht built by Krupp Germania Werft, calling her Haida. When completed, the Haida sailed from Germany to New York, then through the Panama Canal to California.

The ship was constructed to be especially strong so that it might serve for long scientific, fishing, and pleasure cruises in the Pacific waters off the Californian coast.

Using the latest technological developments, the vessel was equipped with the twin diesel engines that still propel her to this day.

During the war the yacht was sold to the US Navy who renamed her USS Argus.

Her other owners include British politician Loel Guinness and film producer Robert Stigwood. She has also been called the Sarena, Roskenkavalier and Haida G during her chequered career. She featured in the film “Mama Mia.”
