The jack-up rig Wavewalker 1 has demobilised at the docks following a highly successful deployment at an Offshore wind farm location off St Nazaire, France where it conducted a technically challenging geotechnical site investigation for Fugro on behalf of EMF.
The innovative eight-legged ‘walking’ jack-up platform (SEWP) was part of a multi vessel team deployed by Fugro on the project, the other vessels being the Fugro Commander and Greatship Manisha.
Les Lugg, Director of Wavewalker BV & Fugro Geoservices said: “Wavewalker will now undergo a planned period of maintenance in Falmouth after a very successful year before embarking on her next round of important contracts.
The revolutionary platform is owned by Wavewalker BV, a joint venture between Falmouth-based Fugro Geoservices and Dutch dredging company Van Oord.
The smaller jack-up Aran 250 berthed on the Northern Arm after being involved in geo technical work relating to the Fehmarnbelt fixed link tunnel project between German and Denmark.
Les Lugg said: “The Aran 250 will move from the docks to Fugro Geoservices base at Gweek shortly.”
The fixed link across the Fehmarnbelt will be approximately 18 km long and carry a fourlane motorway alongside a twin track electrified railway. It will be built as an immersed tunnel and will be one of the world’s longest car drives through a tunnel.
