Irish Ferries passenger ferry Oscar Wilde has made an unscheduled emergency dry-docking to repair a damaged rudder. The ship has just completed a routine dry-docking at the Belfast yard of Harland and Wolff.
The ship had originally been stemmed for A&P Falmouth but due to the number 2 dry-dock being unavailable Irish Ferries sent the Oscar Wilde to Belfast.
The ferry was back in service again running between Rosslare and Cherbourg when the rudder was found to be defective.
In February 2010 Oscar Wilde sailed from here after a refit and caught fire in the bay. The vessel was eventually towed back into port.
