THE plight of the Russian crew stranded on the general cargo ship Yeya 1, anchored in the bay, will soon be over, as unconfirmed reports suggest that the ship has been sold to new owners and a local ship chandler has been asked to restore the ship.
The Missions to Seafarers arranged for essential food supplies to be taken out to the ship after Maritime Coastguard Agency surveyor Chris Moss contacted the Falmouth branch of the charity, informing it that the ship was extremely low on food rations.
The Falmouth harbour commissioners’ pilot boat L K Mit- chell took stores out to the Yeya 1. Since then, the pilot boat has also delivered other essential items and magazines to the ship.
