Garden grab home plan rejected on appeal

AN appeal against Cornwall Council’s decision to reject plans for a new home in the garden of a property in Grove Hill, Mawnan Smith, has been dismissed by a government inspector.

Christopher Gethin dismissed the appeal stating the proposal would not conserve or enhance the Cornwall area of outstanding natural beauty but would harm the appearance of the area.

I can understand this attitude in areas of natural beauty like the Cotswold beautiful stonework and a village pond , but Mawnan Smith is a miss mash of the most poorly built houses in the county , pot holed roads and no street lights , if you want natural beauty! bull doze the whole village and start again . are they all blind , the Red Lion is the only building worth keeping . Its strange that two houses were built in the centre of the village (one in the garden so close together that they have to have frosted glass in the windows ) so it is obvious it depends who on the council you are friends with maybe Sadler ! who qouted that he didnt see there were two houses on the plans even though he passed the building site every day .
