PUPILS at Falmouth Primary School have had a glimpse into the reality of life as a child in the Victorian era during a day of workshops and role playing on Friday.
The year three pupils in Aqua Class have the Victorian era as their topic for the first half of the term and will be studying all aspects of the period, taking in history, science, music and English from the curriculum.
Teacher Hannah Johnson said: “They are learning all about the vile Victorians, about how horrible they were to the children back then and how life was so very different.
“They have been told how they would receive the cane if they were not sitting up properly, and finding out about the different jobs children would have back then and looking at diets and planning healthy meals.
“The children have been so enthusiastic. They have been sitting so quietly, it has been a bit of an eye opener for them.”
