Question over future of old Clinton Cards store in Falmouth

A national store chain has denied plans to open in the old Clinton Cards store in Falmouth

Cornwall Council's planning register shows an application from The Works Stores Ltd for advertising consent to put up new signs on the former Clinton Cards shop in Falmouth's Market Street.

The proposed designs showed the shopfront completely transformed with The Works branding.

However when questioned The Works which sells books, stationery, arts supplies, toys and gifts said “Unfortunately, this is not the case.”

Perhaps they were going to Falmouth but may have since changed their minds and are going to Helston, wishful thinking on my. I personally wish they would open a store in Falmouth and Helston, I would have thought in Falmouth though they would have too much competition with Trago.

Here is the missing 'part'. As in 'my part' from my previous post.

Weird. Could just be a case of the company refusing to confirm it until permission is granted and the lease has gone through.

While Gills missing words have been supplied Falmouth Packet ,is it possible as on some national newspaper sites to have a facility to edit a comment..
It is quite irritating to write a comment to later discover errors etc and not be able to edit.

I agree with Claudius, I nearly posted a comment on one article that said- "I would like to be represented by a croissant". It was meant to say by a cross selection of Councillors.
My phones predictive text was responsible.

Ha....very funny Gill.
I use a computer but even after scanning what I have written I sometimes miss things.
Actually we might be better served by a croissant than the county council at times.

They didn't refuse to confirm, they gave a statement categorically saying "it is not the case".
Which would have to be a lie, if they do have plans.
Though Falmouth Packet did not supply the question that The Works responded to. It may have been "Do you like croissant?"

I also would like an edit button as I should have quoted "..this is not the case".
And the question would have to be "we have been told you like croissant, is that correct?"

If we were served by a croissant instead of Cornwall Council then at least we could ' butter it up' to get what we want.

Would 'The Works' not have had to apply for planning consent for change of use as well advertising signage ?

No Gill, it's still retail so no change of use required.

GZM, it should be possible to switch off predictive text on your phone.

I was sending some really bizarre texts until it was switched off !!.

Lol, last time I altered something on it though I just made my location available to everyone I knew to track. Gets a bit much when someone texts and says "what you doing in Bodmin" or something similar.

If a representative from The Works told the Packet they are not going to open a store in Falmouth did the Packet then ask why is there an planning application for signage then?

A planning application not an planning application.
