Over seven days the ancient town comes alive with walks and sports, quizzes, markets and performances of live music.

To start things off, a "fun sports event" was be held on Glasney College Field from 6pm on Monday offering everything from go-karts to a bouncy castle and sacks races to the tug-o-war.

Tuesday offers an afternoon heritage walk meeting at the town hall at 2pm. A local historian will lead a guided tour of Penryn followed by refreshments in the hall.

That evening, at 7.30pm, a presentation in the town hall will unravel the secrets of Lady Jane Killigrew - complete with a display of artefacts such as the Loving Cup, which was featured on the Antiques Roadshow earlier this year.

On Thursday an exhibition of local artists will be held in Bar 20 from noon, while at 7pm an “Art Evening” will feature local ales and wines in the same venue.

From 6.30pm on Thursday an evening walk will meet outside the town hall offering a similar route to Tuesday's afternoon event.

At the end of every working week, Penryn hosts its Friday Market and this week is no different with lots of local produce, gifts and handmade goodies on offer in the Temperance Hall from 9am to 3.30pm.

Friday evening from 7.30pm a choir concert will be held in the Methodist Chapel featuring Sithian's Ladies Choir and refreshments.

The weekend brings bingo in the town hall from 12.30pm on Saturday, followed by a fancy dress Cornish Wurzells gig in the Kings Arms pub from 8.30pm. The theme for the fancy dress is scarecrows and farmers.

To round off the week an RNLI service on Sunday (July 21) will see the quay filled with the sounds of Gweek Silver Band. If it's wet, the service will be held in St Gluvias Church.
