An historic lifeboat which has been stored in Falmouth for the past decade, has now left for its new home in East Anglia.
The 46-foot Watson Class lifeboat Atlantic was stationed at Penlee between 1930 and 1961 and helped save 102 lives.
The boat was also involved in a Silver medal service when eight lives were saved from the warship Warspite, when it went aground at Prussia Cove in 1947.
The lifeboat left Mylor Creek by road on Monday as it is not seaworthy in its present condition. It made the long road trip to Harwich where it will be repaired and rebuilt.
Its new owner, Rod Shaw said: “This historic boat which has been laid up for three years A boat of this national importance should be preserved as it is an outstanding example of early lifeboats.”
