Cruising from Falmouth starts next week with the arrival of the cruise ship Funchal, which will embark passengers at the docks for her cruise “South to the Sun”.

From Falmouth Funchal heads south to Vigo, Cadiz, Gibraltar, Tangier, Oporto returning to Falmouth nine days later. On May 1 Funchal sails from the docks again to the Norwegian fjords on a ten-day cruise Newell’s Travel have exclusively teamed up with Portuscale Cruises to present four cruises from the port this year to Norway, The Canaries, Mediterranean, France, Spain and Portugal.

Passengers taking a cruise from Falmouth will be travelling on a ship steeped rich in maritime history as Funchal served as the presidential yacht for Portugal in the early stages of her distinguished career. Funchal has undergone a multi-million pound refit and refurbishment programme bringing her in-line with the latest international safety regulations.

On August 11 Funchal returns for a further two cruises: “Madeira, Canary Islands & Casablanca” is a 12 night cruise to Oporto, Funchal, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Casablanca, Lisbon and Falmouth.

Her “Gardens, History, Wine & Oysters,” which sounds interesting, leaves Falmouth on August 23 for Bilbao, Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Honfleur, St Mary’s, and returns to Falmouth.
