The Trident Challenge will return to the water off Gyllyngvase Beach on August 9 and swimmers are asked to register in advance as places fill up fast.

Set up by two Falmouth Firefighters in 2006, Martyn Addinall and Grant Nicholls had the idea of recreating a swimming race as part of Falmouth week and the numbers of competitors have steadily increased ever since.

So far, the Trident Challenge has raised £3,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity, Cancer Research UK and Surf Lifesaving GB.

This years Trident Challenge will take place on August 9, with registration for the event takeing place at Gyllyngvase Beach from 4.30pm. The Trident Challenge will start at 7pm.

Organisers recommend registering by completing the Trident Challenge 2014 application form.

You can register on the day but entry is strictly limited to 150 people. The entrance fee is £5 where proceeds will be split between the chosen charities. For further information call Falmouth Community Fire Station: 01326 212412.
