A Penryn Junior School pupil has come fifth in a national writing contest run by the town’s Rotary club.
Over 30 children entered the Rotary Club Young Writer Competition in the junior category, and five pupils, Kaitlin, Fatima, Cara, Piran and Avan, were highly commended, with Cara going on to win the Cornwall and West Devon district competition, and coming fifth nationally.
Derek Godridge, of Penryn Rotary Club, presented the children with certificates and dictionaries at an assembly held in the school.
He said: “It’s fabulous, really brilliant for the school. Particularly for these youngsters, but also for the teachers and parents who have supported them. They are the future of our country.”
