As part of a partnership to actively promote exercise and healthy living in Falmouth, the Core Fitness and Wellbeing Centre laid on a class solely for staff of Trescobeas Surgery and their families.

“We all know the health benefits of exercise, however our staff were also keen to show how much fun it can also be,” said surgery practice manager, Yorick O’Nyons.

“All of them had a great time and many of them are now full members and regularly attend classes.”

Deputy manager, Alison Fry is now a Core convert.

“From doing minimal exercise I now do three to four classes a week,” she said. “I have made loads of good friends and now can’t wait to do my evening classes. I have even persuaded both my daughters to get involved.”

It is not just surgery staff who are benefiting from The Core, all patients are being offered two weeks, no obligation free membership during which they can try all the classes and facilities. To take up this offer simply collect a voucher from the surgery reception.

The Core owner Helen Tite said: “Trescobeas Surgery challenged me to provide for every one of their 9,500 patients. To do so we now lay on programmes that challenge the most capable to courses specialising in rehab, obesity, falls prevention, COPD and asthma, junior gym, mental health, stroke and Parkinsons.”
