Teachers and staff at Falmouth School have congratulated year 11 pupils on their GCSE results as the number of pupils achieving ten A* to A grades rose 15 per cent.
Students arrived in school to collect their grades, which many will have hoped would get them into college to start A-level courses next month.
The school said that the number of pupils achieving at least five A* to C grades was above the national average, and in English and maths over 70 per cent of the students achieved a grade C or above.
Headteacher Brett Miners said: “These results represent considerable effort by the students, supported all the way through by their teachers. The results reflect the commitment and hard work of the students and the quality of teaching, guidance and support from the staff.
“It is a pleasure to congratulate so many students on making such good progress through their GCSEs. Many of the students will be returning to join Falmouth Sixth Form College in September and we look forward to building further on their achievements.”
There were 15 students who stood out from their peers, achieving ten or more A* and A grades, and those were: Georgia Christophers, Shannon Clarke, Coral Cryan, Charlotte Emsden, Mango Gilchrist, Jonathon Laundon, Nathalie Lloyd-Cope, Ester Martin, Rona Noble, Muireann Ould, Antonio Parker-Rees, Charlotte Reburn, Jodie Syner, Susanna Tufnell, and Gareth Willetts.
Ester said that she was “delighted” with her results, while Coral said: “I feel really happy, I was expecting a lot worse.”
Mr Miners added: “Congratulations to you all and we wish all of our students every success as they move onto the next stage of their education.”
