A move to transfer of the Dracaena playing fields to Falmouth Town Council is underway, with one councillor expressing fears Cornwall Council "hopes at some time in the future to flog [the field] for housing".
Cornwall Councillor Hannah Toms has made a representation to the localism portfolio holder at Cornwall Council to move forward with the transfer of the Dracaena playing fields to Falmouth Town Council.
At a meeting on Monday night, the town council heard that there had been concerns raised about its ability to continue the provision of play facilities at the fields, although the transfer is supported by local groups including the committee that runs the skatepark at the site.
Councillor Candy Atherton said: “The only conclusion you can come to is that Cornwall Council hopes at some time in the future to flog [the field] for housing.”
