Every summer the national press decide it is time for a 'KILLER SHARK SPOTTED IN CORNWALL' story, and this year is no exception.
The latest report has a Great White shark lurking just off Falmouth, after a video surfaced showing a shark that experts say is not a Great White, probably.
Filmed by Nigel Hodge, the sighting of the '14ft' shark has sparked a fury of speculation, and a flurry of headlines.
The video, of what experts at the Shark Trust said was 'clearly' a young basking shark according to the "shape and position of fins and various other traits including movement and the feeding action of the shark", has appeared on countless websites today.
White Tip, Blue Shark, and Thresher sharks have also been listed as candidates.
Among the headlines are Express: "A deadly Great White Shark is feared to be lurking near the British coast' and the Telegraph: "Great white shark spotted in Cornwall?"
There has never been a verified sighting of a white sharks in Cornish waters, however experts say the waters are suitable for the apex predator.
