A serial sex offender who grabbed a pensioner at Pendennis point with the intent to commit a sexual offence has been jailed for a minimum of six years.

James Campbell, 42, pictured right, was convicted at Truro Crown Court on September 24 of the attempted kidnap of the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in November last year.

Campbell, of no fixed abode, was jailed for nine years for committing an offence with the intent to commit a sexual offence, with an extended period of six years, meaning he must serve at least two thirds of the sentence.

He was also sentenced to five years imprisonment for kidnapping, and a concurrent sentence of twelve months for possessing an offensive weapon.

Judge Christopher Harvey Clark ordered that two other offences, of false imprisonment and of failing to comply with a sexual offences prevention order, lie on file unless the court decide otherwise.
