The Gylly Girls Women’s Institute group from Falmouth has seen success with its second annual autumn craft fair.

The fair, held at Emanuel Baptist Church on Saturday, raised around £400, although the final total will not be confirmed until all the money for sales tables is handed in.

Claire Collins, programme co-ordinator for the Gylly Girls, said: “It went really well. It was a very busy morning but quieter in the afternoon. They had lots of stalls, and I believe people who had stalls were happy with what they took. We had a kids’ corner and a refreshment stand with lots of homemade cakes, biscuits and pies, which always does really well.”

While it appears that takings may be down slightly on last year’s figure, Claire said that may have been been due to deciding to charge stallholders slightly less this year. Attendance, however, appeared to have been up slightly.

All funds raised by the event will go to providing an annual programme of speakers and entertainment for the WI group.
