A Penryn artist will see her design gracing the front of a new town guide and map to be produced in early 2015 after winning a competition run by Visit Penryn.

Liz Perry won 43 per cent of the public vote to make sure her picture will be the cover of 20,000 copies of the new publication, a collaboration between Visit Penryn and Clear Mapping.

Residents and visitors were able to make their choice with ballot boxes in different venues around the town, at Earth & Water, Just Delights, Fannie & Fox and Number 20, as well as online.

Pip Carlton-Barnes, of Visit Penryn, said: “All three designs were beautiful and closely followed the brief to reflect the town’s culture and great community. Liz’s design is really fun and gives our town map a really unique look reflecting the growing art community we have here in Penryn.”

Liz, an artist at the Fannie & Fox art co-operative, said: “I was very excited to hear my work had been voted to win. Penryn is full of character with a strong community and this is what I wanted to capture in the piece.

“Each of the people in the picture is based on people I know including myself, I am the one holding the flowers.”

The map, along with the town guide, will be produced in time for the February half-term break.
