The organisers of Penryn Arts Festival are looking to build on the success of this year’s event and calling on local artists to get involved for 2015.

The committee is seeking proposals from arts event providers and practitioners in all stages in their career, to create projects that are socially engaged and community focused and respond to the people or places within Penryn Town and the surrounding area.

One of the festival organisers, Sarah-Jane Marsden, said: “The festival this year was, yet again, an all out success with over 200 people putting on events and almost 2,000 attending them, over a balmy weekend in July. “Next year the festival will be earlier, running over the last May bank holiday, May 22 to 25, in order that as well as all the usual visitors, Falmouth University and its students can be involved and attend the many varied arts events.

“The festival will only be as good as the events which make it up and therefore the committee are currently asking for project proposals.”

The committee is looking to fund and promote a variety of small, innovative and inspiring projects covering diverse areas of creative practice such as visual art, creative writing, live or recorded music, drama, film, animation, theatre, written and spoken word as well as performance, workshops, and exhibitions, to be presented in indoor spaces or outdoor locations within the town and surrounding areas.

No proposal will be too small to be considered and the maximum amount of funding available is £1,000 per project or event, with proposals that seek a smaller amount of funding standing a greater chance of being accepted.

Any events that don’t require any funding, such as open studios, are more than welcome to apply to receive support and promotion from the festival.

The closing date for entries is November 21 when the committee will be applying for funding from the Arts Council as well as from Cornish arts funding body Feast Cornwall, which helped support the festival this year, and local businesses. Late applications will be considered. If you have any queries or would like a proposal form email penrynartsfestival@gmail.com or call 07572648477, or visit https://www.facebook.com/PenrynArtsFestival or Penryn Town Council’s offices.
