The stars of Falmouth’s live Nativity have been put through their paces, along with their human co-stars, ahead of their journey through the town on Sunday.
Donkeys Joseph and Jacob were introduced to this year’s Mary and Joseph, to be played by 17-year-old Shannon McMillan and Father Anthony O’Gorman, of St Mary’s Church, before their big day.
This is the third year that the live Nativity will take place, with Mary and Joseph riding through town, asking for shelter at “inns” along the way, including Five Degrees West and Trago Mills. They will be accompanied by shepherds, angels and the three wise men on horses.
Shannon said: “I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited about the atmosphere, and the people who will be involved in such a wonderful thing. I’m hoping the baby behaves at the end. He’s adorable.”
Tessa Farthing, the owner of Jacob and Joseph, said: “It’s such a beautiful event, and lots and lots of people dress up.”
The Nativity will start at around 1.15pm at Events Square, before moving through the town centre towards the finish at The Moor. As well as the Nativity, the event will also include carols and activities for children including the chance to meet horses, donkeys, and alpacas.
