Children from Constantine Primary School joined up with a local baker last week to bake some festive treats.
Oliver Kingdon, from Stones Bakery in Falmouth, visited the Year 2 pupils to share his special recipe for perfect pastry and mincemeat and helped the children to make their own mince pies.
Prior to the visit, the children visited Stones bakery and learnt about the range of flour and breads.
Teacher Joher Anjari said: “The children loved seeing Oliver at work in his kitchen and the homemade pies scored the highest marks in our taste test against other types of mince pie.”
One pupil, Mirryn, said: “I really enjoyed it because now I’ve tried a mince pie, I really like them. I thought that they had real meat in, but now I know that this was from Tudor times.”
