Friends of Falmouth Health Centre had a very successful weekend of fundraising when they held their Christmas fair.
The group raised just under £600 for the centre, with £353 from the fair itself and another £245 from a trip to Exeter.
June Hingley-Hickson, chairman of the group, said: “It was most enjoyable, everybody seemed extremely happy.
“We sold a lot of stuff and I think the footfall was much higher this year than last.”
She added: “We do work very hard to buy equipment for the surgery, for the patients, because they might not have to go over to Treliske, and the NHS doesn’t buy the equipment we buy.”
The group has recently bought an adjustable table for the surgery to carry out minor operations, as well as a machine for patients who need warfarin to regulate blood clotting, which measures levels of the drug by pricking a patient’s finger and giving a correct prescription.
Before the arrival of the machine such a procedure would have required a trip to hospital in Truro.
