The Post Office is proposing to relocate Mylor Post Office to Mylor Newsagents on Passage Hill, and open as a "modern open-plan local-style branch with improved accessibility and significantly longer opening hours".

Post Office local is a"new concept for delivering Post Office services", and the new Mylor branch would offer Post Office products and services from an open plan till at the shop counter during shop opening hours instead of from a separate screened counter.

The proposed location is approximately 480 metres from its current site at Trevellan Road and this move would be "with the current postmaster’s agreement".

Should the move go ahead, the branch would open Monday to Saturday: 7:30am – 7:30pm; Sunday: 7:30am - 6pm on.

This offers customers an extra 36 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office services every week including all day Sunday and Saturday afternoon. The branch would open earlier and close later every day.

The proposed move is part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network, "designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments". There would also be "easier access".

Regional network manager, Will Russell, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents and we are confident this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community in Mylor and secure services for the future.

"The modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six week public consultation.

Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

The consultation will close on February 2, 2015.
