Comedian, actor and novelist Dawn French will be formally installed as Falmouth University’s first chancellor at a ceremony to be held at |King Charles the Martyr Church on March 26.

This will follow a procession through the town, which will include some of the university’s academics along with civic leaders from both Falmouth and Penryn. The installation will feature music, dance and entertainment created by students at the UK’s number one arts university.

Dawn was announced as the first chancellor of Falmouth University in September. With a hugely successful career spanning so many areas of the arts, she takes up the role as an embodiment of the skills, passion and creativity that the university stands for. An inspirational figurehead for Falmouth’s students, she will play a figurative and ambassadorial role in the public life of the university.

As chancellor, Dawn will preside over graduation ceremonies and confer degrees. Full details of the day’s events will be announced next month.
