Councillors in Budock have expressed surprise at the fact that Cornwall Council has been consulting Penryn on development at College Valley, when the land falls within Budock parish.

After reading about the proposal to prioritise an area |of the valley for house |building, former council chairman John Bastin, who is the councillor in charge of the parish plan, has pointed out| that a large section of the site does not actually fall within the town’s boundary.

He said he was surprised that the town council did not know the boundary, which runs along the line of College Hill, as he |had discussed the issue with Penryn’s town clerk around two years ago.

Mr Bastin said: “However, I am more concerned by the fact that Cornwall Council planning officers did not seem to know where the boundaries are, after all, one would have thought it was their job to know this information in detail. We have informed Penryn about our concerns re ‘ownership’|but as of yet have not had a response.”

Budock Parish Council will be sending representatives to the planning meeting, to be held at Penryn Town Hall on February 16, when landowner Walker Developments will be making a pre-application presentation for the site.
