Volunteers are needed to tell the story of Pendennis Castle's rich history.

Anyone interested is invited to a coffee morning being held there between 11am and 1pm next Thursday, February 26 to learn more about the opportunities available.

If you love talking to new people, are available to join the castle team one day a week and are keen to know more about the history of Pendennis and Falmouth then volunteering could be just the thing for you.

As well as welcoming visitors, castle volunteers will help convey the story of Pendennis during the First World War in the recently opened exhibition in the castle barracks. Volunteers will work alongside the existing team and gain “invaluable experience” working at one of the country’s great coastal fortresses.

Next week’s coffee morning will be a chance to meet the team, explore the castle and ask questions about the new volunteer programme.

Wendy Amer, property manager of Pendennis Castle, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and be involved in one of England’s great castles. Whether you are looking to indulge a life-long interest in heritage, or this is your first step into the world of work, this will be a great way to really get involved in looking after a historic property.

“It’s the first time we have invited volunteers to join us at Pendennis, and I can’t wait to meet everyone at the coffee morning and share this amazing place with others.”
