Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were called on to help in the aftermath of a crash while out patrolling due to the expected high tides on Saturday.

The crew came across a one vehicle crash on the Mawnan Road on Saturday and found one male casualty out of the vehicle having suffered a head injury.

One team member was assigned casualty carer for him while another took control and directed traffic.

Police and ambulance staff were requested and residents of a nearby property also assisted with traffic control, which was "much appreciated".

The team used their vehicle to provide traffic cover from the opposite direction as the incident had occurred on a blind corner.

The casualty was placed in the care of the ambulance service.

A spokesman said: "This was a good example of an incident showing our skills can be used in any emergency situation, not just the coast.

"Thanks to Falmouth Coastguard Operations Centre for the assistance in organising other emergency services while we dealt with the situation on the ground.

The road to Mawnan from Argal / Lamanva Cross is a 40mph limit - I think its fair to say we could count a small handful of vehicles last night that were traveling at that speed.

"One team member who lives nearby said, 'This is the second incident in the last 4 months that has resulted in the total loss of a vehicle in exactly the same spot'."
