Falmouth Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr has introduced a new trail designed to encourage children in to learn more about its history and appropriately two groups from King Charles School were the first to trial the trail.

The trail has been compiled by the church, working in association with NADFAS, the national body of the Falmouth Decorative and Fine Arts Society. It is designed to give children information about Christian symbolism and historical events that are depicted around the church.

Youngsters are directed towards the font, the Joseph Emidy memorial, the central window and stained glass window, the Operation Chariot Book of Remembrance and Warrior Chapel, the organ, lectern and pulpit among others.

Schools and other youth groups, such as Cubs, Scouts and Brownies, are invited to take a tour of the church and follow the trail, with the aid of work sheets, the cost of printing of which has been covered by FDFAS. There are also laminated sheets for adults which give the answers and offer explanatory notes.

Anyone interested in bringing groups of youngsters to take the trail, which lasts about 40 minutes, should contact Father Stephen Tudgey on 01326 319141 or Sue Rider, on 07969 372143 or email sueweld@hotmail.com
