The owner of a lingerie shop in Falmouth has narrowly missed out on taking the crown in a best shop window competition.

Tracey Cross, who runs Love from Me x in Church Street, made it through to the top five of Curvy Kate’s national independent shop window competition and was told by judges: “We thought your window really stood out and showed your store’s personality and promoted Star in a Bra in the best way possible.”

Having made it through to the final five, it was over to Tracey’s supporters to vote on Facebook.

Unfortunately she fell at the last hurdle but is proud of her achievements.

Tracey, a former Miss England who then went on to represent the country in the Miss Universe competition in 1988 where she won the title of Miss Photogenic, opened her shop after her husband spotted the gap in the market in Falmouth.

Mrs Cross previously worked as a flight attendant and then a nurse, which she had to give up because of a back problem.

She said: “We then came to Falmouth as my husband worked at Culdrose as a search and rescue pilot with 771 squadron. I knew immediately that this was where I wanted to settle.

“The aim wasn't for me to work full time really, so I had a little part time job with Superdrug then went on to work at Bow. I wasn't looking to work full time or have my own business, until one day my husband and I walked past this little shop that was up for letting he said that would make a nice lingerie shop.

“We had talked about it in the past, my husband used to buy me lingerie for birthdays, Christmas etc and there was nowhere in Falmouth to buy it. It was perfect so within six weeks, I had an accountant, got the lease etc and all of my stock to start my new business Love from Me x.”
