Falmouth Primary Academy held what it called a “competition of a lifetime” which tasked its teachers with designing and making a storytelling chair which will now take pride of place in their classrooms.
The prize for the winner of the contest? A whole week off school, which just happened to coincide with half term.
The eight chairs were put on display in the school hall last week and all pupils were then invited to have look at them during assembly.
It was then down to the school council to inspect them all more closely before they headed off to discuss each one’s merits in detail and choose a winner.
The council then returned to assembly and announced that Jenny Hobday’s chair, which took inspiration from Room on the Broom, had taken the runners-up honour and that Erin Mitchell’s Harry Potter inspired chair was their choice for winner.
