A landscaper has been fined after admitting smashing a Falmouth pub window and urinating in a police van after being arrested.

Truro Magistrates' Court heard that  Joseph Anthony O'Connor became annoyed because he could not get his bank card back from behind the bar at the Prince of Wales pub after he was thrown out for causing trouble.

The court heard he had been asked to give in his bank card while he had a tab, but was then ushered out after arguing with another customer. Frustrated because he could not get back inside to collect his card, he broke the window.

O'Connor, aged 28, from Watford, pleaded guilty to damaging the window, costing £180 to repair, and causing damage in the rear of a police van cell.

The offence in the police van occurred when he urinated in it.

His solicitor Rob Eccleston told the court about his frustration over the bank card, and said the offence in the van took place after he had asked several times for it to stop so he could relieve himself but was refused.

O'Connor had previous convictions.

He was fined £665 with £152 costs and surcharge and told to pay compensation of £233.55.
