Members of Redruth Town Council are speaking to Devon and Cornwall Police over community concerns about the effects of cut backs.

A spokesman for the council said they are engaging with the Police and Crime Commissioner, Tony Hogg as well as the Chief Constable, Sean Sawyer and the officer in charge of policing in Redruth, Inspector Mark Eccles.

He said; "Several meetings have occurred and which have resulted in many positive benefits for the town.

"A local police liaison group has been established where Inspector Eccles will meet every two months with representatives of the eight Councils in his policing area in order to discuss matters of public concern, crime trends, crime prevention advice and so on.

"These meetings are very much a two way channel of communication and allow councillors to take issues directly to the operational police officer in charge.

"Further assurances have been received from the police that they will undertake to attend a number of full Council meetings and also to keep in close contact by means of reports containing matters of interest.

Redruth Town Council aere also writing to MPs and others expressing their "concern at the effects of such cutbacks and calling for more financial support and resourcing for the police".

The Mr Hogg, the Police and Crime Commissioner is scheduled to attend a meeting of Redruth Town Council on Monday 27th April, 2015 and will hear first-hand of many concerns from councillors.
