It's not often that new tents get their very own mayoral ribbon cutting ceremony, but that's what happened when the head of Falmouth Council visited a local charity last week.

Councillor John Body, who has just started his second year as mayor, was joined by his deputy Councillor Grenville Chappel on Wednesday May 20 as they visited BF Adventure at Halvasso to open the new ridgeback, bought with the help of a £1,200 donation from the town council.

Clare Davison, the organisation's marketing coordinator, said: "There was a site tour where the low ropes, zip wire and adventure quarry was examined, and the charity's mission statement, 'inspiring, challenging and motivating people, especially young people, to develop their life skills to bring about positive change' was discussed."

The new tents, which each sleep up to eight children or six adults, are in the centre's residential area and will be used for all residential programmes during the summer months.

Ms Davison added: "During the tour the councillors met with Bosvigo School children who were staying in the tents on a residential visit. The children were having a great time and asked Councillor John Body some very interesting questions.

"BF Adventure would like to say a huge thank you to the Falmouth Town Council and their support of the charity."
