Swimmers with a wild streak or those who enjoy a bit of exercise with their pints will be heading down to Restronguet Creek this weekend to raise funds for Cornish wildlife.

Members of the public will be taking part in the Inn to Inn Swim tomorrow, leaving the Old Quay Inn at Devoran at 8.30am and finishing at the Pandora Inn in Mylor, with the organisers donating £1 of every £35 entry fee to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

Amelia Whitaker, owner of Nearwater Events and Cornwall Wildlife Trust business member, swims this stretch of the river regularly. Her personal enjoyment has inspired her to create the ‘Inn to Inn Swim’ for everyone who loves the outdoors and enjoys the challenge of doing something really special and worthwhile.

Amelia said: "A real treat is in store for those who enter the swim. Swimming in such a beautiful spot makes you aware of how lucky we are to have somewhere as lovely as the Fal in this part of the world.”

The swim will take place at one of the most beautiful stretches of deep water in Cornwall, if not the country. An abundance of wildlife can be seen, such as the wading herons, curlews and egrets on the shore, plus the swimmers should see mullet and beautiful bass gliding under the waves as they pass by. If they are really lucky, Atlantic grey seals may follow them up the creek.

Nearwater Events are looking for volunteers to help out on the day. If you are interested, please contact Amelia on 01326 279278 or amelia@nearwaterstmawes.co.uk.

The event is open to all, with registration from 6.30am to 7.30am, and entry £40 including a breakfast BBQ after the swim.
