Sunny weather on sports day banished the blues of a rained off summer fair for the children of St Francis School this week.

Over two days, the key stage one and two pupils took to the school field to participate in activities from running races to tug of war, as well as fun activities like the space hopper competition and traditional favourite the egg and spoon race.

Head Vanessa Farnell said: "It's been fantastic weather for both days, it has been brilliant.

"All the children have been enjoying themselves, I'm really pleased that the parents have come in to share in the day."

She added that it had been a nice way to be "outside and active" following a special outdoor week.

The school also had a raffle and tombola and one or two stalls with items collected for the abandoned summer fair of the week before.
