Children and adults enjoyed a day of food, fun and football skills at a recent family day at Perranarworthal School.

The school held the free village fun day as part of Perranwell's 'Big Village Month', which is aimed at getting the community of the village together and taking part in events.

The school's head teacher, Rachel Heffer said: "The big family fun day brought the school, the cricket club, the football club and the scouts. together as a group.

"It brought the whole community together to spend a day together."

The community choir sang during the event, while the football and cricket clubs ran training courses for the children, and the scouts ran a barbecue.

There was also a visit from Swamp Circus, with members teaching circus skills to the children, and representatives from the ambulance service and police, and there were the usual stalls.

Rachel said: "We were extremely lucky with the weather. If we were able to book the weather we planned, we couldn't have done any better.

"It really helped the whole day be a real success."

"It's all about bringing the community together to celebrate the village," she added. "It's a very vibrant community."

She thanked Julia Roberts and all the other event organisers and volunteers, including the friends of Perranarworthal School, for all of their hard work.
