THE Moonlight Memory Walk in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) returns to Falmouth for its seventh year on Saturday, October 3 and once again the Packet is delighted to be the official media partner.

This Moonlight Memory Walk is a truly special evening where ladies come together to remember their loved ones with a beautiful memory ceremony and then take part in a sponsored five mile circular walk at 10pm around Falmouth in celebration.

Participants are encouraged to decorate candle bags in memory of their loved ones, these are then placed around the fountain on the Moor, in the centre of Falmouth, creating a unique centre piece for the event village.

CHSW is delighted to have Ocean Falmouth sponsoring the event which helps to cover some of the event costs meaning that more of the ladies’ sponsorship money can go towards the care offered to the children and support for families that the charity supports.

Last year almost 400 ladies took part and the event raised £20,000. The team from CHSW are now looking to the ladies of Falmouth and Cornwall to get involved again. The Falmouth Packet are also generously supporting the event again as Media Partner.

Kiley Tellam, Events Fundraiser for CHSW explains the magical atmosphere of the event; “Our Moonlight Memory Walk is such a special evening for everyone who is a part of it. The atmosphere is unique, with loved ones being remembered but also memories being celebrated and created on the night. The camaraderie between the ladies is always tangible and everyone finishes the walk with a beaming smile. The Falmouth community has been so supportive over the past 6 years and we hope they are ready to don their purple t-shirts again and take to the streets to raise vital funds for CHSW.”

CHSW supports children who sadly will not live to adulthood. Through their three hospices in the south west they provide care for life limited children as well as support for siblings and parents. Families stay at Little Harbour in St Austell for a few days at a time, life limited children have one to one care from the care team and there is even a Sibling Team who keep brothers and sisters entertained with a variety of activities. Just a few days at Little Harbour gives parents the chance to have a rest, children the chance to have fun and families to spend some quality time together making precious memories, with the knowledge that they don’t have to make their meals, clean the house or be up numerous times in the night to administer medication.

Care and support offered at Little Harbour wouldn’t be possible without the many donations made to the charity through fundraising.
