The head teacher of Penryn Primary Academy joked that the school was "flush with cash" after a very successful summer fair on Saturday.

The school raised £1,620 with it's second summer fair as an academy, £500 more than last year, as the summer sun smiled on stallholders and visitors alike.

Head teacher Robin Cowen said: "Despite it being poor weather before and after we had a lovely sunny day with lots of things outside as well as inside the school.

Fair goers were able to enjoy displays of tae-kwon-do and by various dance groups, sumo wrestling, and a performance by the school samba band, as well as the usual games and stalls.

Robin also praised the fair's two main organisers, Sandra Wilkinson and Ceri Guimaraes, saying: "Most importantly, thank you to two mums who did a fantastic amount of work preparing for the day."
