A man has died after being pulled from the sea off Falmouth's beaches this morning.
Reports of a person in the water between Gyllyngvase and Castle beaches were sent to the coastguard just before 9am this morning, and the inshore lifeboat pulled the man from the waves close to the sea wall.
The casualty was passed to the coastguard's cliff rescue team near to Tunnel Beach, and CPR was given straight away, before he was transferred to the waiting ambulance so further life saving efforts could be made.
A coastguard spokesperson said: "Team members were re-tasked along with lifeboat units to carry out a search between Pendennis and Pennance points, some items were recovered along the way and handed in as potential evidence.
"Sadly the person has been pronounced deceased, obviously it goes without saying that our thoughts are with the family and friends of the casualty at this sad time."
