A crew of seven people were on board a charity sailing ship when it was rescued by Falmouth RNLI after suffering engine failure last Tuesday morning.

The all weather lifeboat launched at around 10.45am on August 25 to help the 20m sailing ketch Grace of Falmouth, owned by charity Sea Sanctuary which provides non-clinical adventure therapy for people with mental health issues

The vessel had issued a mayday distress call when it suffered engine failure and its anchor was dragging in the Carrick Roads.

An RNLI spokesperson said: "A tow line was passed to the vessel and the weight was taken so that the crew could raise their anchor.

"Once this was completed at 11.10am the tow commenced with the vessel being safely placed on its mooring in the Inner Harbour at 11.50am."
