A man and woman fled the scene of a crash on Sunday evening after the car they were in flipped on Swanpool Road in Falmouth.
Police were called at around 9pm to the single vehicle collision, after a Falmouth registered silver Volkswagen Golf was discovered on its roof between Falmouth Golf Club and Swanpool Beach.
Jordan Matthews, who was one of the first on the scene and dialled 999, said:
"From what I could tell, the car was going up the hill from Swanpool Beach towards the Falmouth Golf Club and had hit the railings for the coastal path to Maenporth and flipped.
"With the damage to the car and the wall and railing it hit, the car would’ve had to have been travelling at a high speed."
Police said the car had been left blocking the road, and highways workers had been called due to the amount of debris on the road, while a fire crew from Falmouth attended to make sure no-one remained trapped.
A police spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing to track down the driver and passenger of the vehicle at the time of the incident."
Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw people leaving the scene is asked to contact police on 101 or via 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk quoting log number 914 of September 20.
