The Met Office is warning there could be travel disruption in Cornwall and trees blown down tomorrow afternoon as gales sweep across southern England.

The forecaster has issued a yellow weather warning for wind from around 3pm to 11.30pm on Tuesday, as west to southwesterly gales and locally severe gales sweep eastwards, with gusts up to 60 or 70mph inland and possibly 80mph along exposed coasts.

Travellers are asked to be aware of possible disruption to travel and that gusts could bring down trees and damage weakened structures.

The chief forecaster said: "There remains a good deal of uncertainty in this evolution and particularly the location of the strongest winds, so this warning will be kept under review and updated as necessary."
