Falmouth Coastguard, police, and the inshore lifeboat were all sent to Mylor Creek on Thursday evening following reports of a woman in the water near Mylor Boatyard.
The coastguard contacted emergency services shortly after 8.45pm, although upon arrival it was found that the person had made their own way to shore, and was being looked after by police.
A coastguard spokesperson said: "On scene it was apparent that the person had self recovered but was suffering from exposure to the cold and had consumed some sea water.
"In light of this information, an ambulance was requested.
"The casualty was treated by police and a coastguard rescue team member until the arrival of ambulance paramedics."
