Cornwall Council has warned of road closures and diversions on the A39 between Devoran and Penryn as 12 weeks of road improvement works starts next week.

The council has said works to improve the drainage and change the carriageway layout on the A39 at Stickenbridge, near Perranarworthal, are due to begin on April 25.

A council spokesperson said: "The works, which will be carried out by Cornwall Council’s arm’s length company CORMAC Solutions Ltd, involve improving the drainage to prevent flooding, and to overlay the entire carriageway and re-line with a new road layout. They are due to be completed in August 2016.

"In order to carry out these works there will be long periods of traffic management, including road closures with associated diversion routes, however at all times between 7am and 7pm, two way running traffic will be maintained."

Land at Treluswell Roundabout is currently being cleared to create a compound and welfare site for crews working on the scheme, and once the work is completed it will remain in use as a compound for workers on the changes to Treluswell Roundabout which is due to start later in the year.
