The home of the Penryn and Falmouth Foodbank is safe for now after fundraising to cover annual payments has succeeded, with six days to spare.
The Highway Church in Penryn, which houses the foodbank and other voluntary services in its Highway House annex, raised £35,000 to cover the next instalment of money towards the purchase of the building, following a fundraising campaign that included online donations, cake sales and coffee mornings, and independent events by local individuals and businesses.
The foodbank co-ordinator at the church, Sarah Simons, said: "We're delighted and really grateful to the community for getting behind us and helping us to raise it."
