The Poly, the historic cinema and arts venue in the centre of Falmouth, will be holding two consultation days this month over plans for restoration and accessibility improvement works.

The trustees of the centre, which is a grade 2* listed building, have invited people to come along in June to have a look at the plans, as the building is currently in a poor state of repair and completely inaccessible to anybody with mobility issues.

Thanks to grant funding from the Government's Coastal Revival Fund, in which the trustees were assisted by Falmouth Town Council, they have been able to work with architects Long and Kentish to develop ideas on how to achieve the improvements.

Now a number of options have been drawn up for reconfiguring the building, in consultation with Cornwall Council planners and Historic England.

The plans will be on view in the Poly bar throughout June and feedback forms are available, and there will also be two evenings where consultants and trustees will be presenting the various proposals and be on hand to discuss the plans: from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, June 15, and from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, June 29.

The joint chair of the trustees, Sue Radmore, said: “We do hope that people will take this opportunity to have their say on the future of our wonderful and much loved building and help us move towards our vision of becoming Cornwall’s foremost state of the art venue and community hub providing exciting, inclusive and innovative entertainment, learning and development opportunities in the arts, sciences and history.”
