Representatives from Penryn based adventure charity BF Adventure joined just two other Cornish groups at the largest street party ever seen on the Mall in London.

Adrian Richards, Bernadette Snow and John Meakin were among representatives from 600 charities at the The Patron's Lunch on Sunday, as more than 10,000 peple packed the street to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

BF Adventure was awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2015, and joined Cornish charities CHICKS and Truro Amateur Boxing Club when they were invited to the event.

Adrian Richards BF Adventure chief executive, said: “It was a great honour to receive the invitation and attend the Patron's Lunch. BF Adventure supports hundreds of children and young people who are deprived, abused, have higher support needs or not in education or training. To be acknowledged for the great work and the incredible volunteers and staff that support the charity is an outstanding achievement.”

Adrian Richards was joined by John Meakin, a former NEET client who the charity supported through confidence building programmes and learning new skills, as well as an apprenticeship, and who is now a leading instructor in the team. The third member of the group was Bernadette Snow, a long-time community volunteer with five years experience at BF Adventure who is now a full time team member.

John and Bernadette described the event as "awesome" and said it was "an incredible experience to be invited, go to London, visit the sites and the highlight of the trip [was] The Patrons Lunch."

They added that they were so close to the front they could actually see the royal family.
